A good "happy medium " would be a 285/75-17. They are 11.5 wide and about 34 tall. They will also be a better choice than a 12.5" wide tire for the stock wheel.

I have a 6" suspension put on and my 35's (35x12.5x17) rub when turning at bump (think of going over a speedbump while turning) and it'll rub lightly on the inner firewall at the bottom corners.

2" lift with 35x12.5 you'll definitely rub.

I have a 2.5 and 35's and it rubbed terribly then I trimmed my valence and its not even noticeable. On stock 20's.

Stock 20's, Rancho Quicklift Struts for my level, running 35x12.5 Federals. NTB swore up and down that I could NEVER fit that size, Firestone did it instantly. Rubbed the LCA, and the frame. HARD. I had to order 1.5", hub-centric billet aluminum spacers. Once I got the spacers I still had to trim my valence, wheel well, and a little of the fender flare. It still rubs occasionally because I need to cut more wheel well out.

As stated on the site many times before, it's all based on the set up. Also is based on the actual tire. Some "35x12.50s" are actually wider. Case in point, I believe ther Trail Grapplers are 12.8" wide. That extra 3/10 could be the difference maker. Make sure you look at all of the tire's specs.

With that said, in order to fit 35s on a stock wheel without lifting, you'll need at least a 2.5" level.
