295/70/18 or 305/70/18??
Hey all.
I'm looking to get some new rubber soon. I have a 2011 ecoboost fx4 with a 2 level. I have 275 currently, just looking for bigger tire. Was originally wanting 295/70/18 nitto trail grapplers, but for couple hundred more I could get 305/70/18 Micky Thompson or dick ceptic tires.
What do you guys think, and any opinions about mpg would be nice too. Thanks guys.

This was my Lariat 4x4 off-road (bout the same as the FX4). It had 295/70R18s on a 2" level.
Here is the same truck now with a 4" BDS lift and the same tires.
No trimming on either setup and it rides great on and off-road.

I Like Tires
You might be able to fit the 305/70R18 with stock wheels and a 2.5" level, but if you have aftermarket wheels with an offset there is no chance.
Edit: After looking you need at least an 8.5" wide wheel, your stock 18s are 7.5" wide.

I've got the 295 trail grapplers on my truck now. The reason I went with that tire is because I ran them on the stock rims for a few months and running something wider would have been more problematic. Also trail grapplers are great tires.

Count on A loss in mpg
Those size tire will look and ride great , kiss your mpg good bye if you go with a wide tire like those , if you stick with a 275 /75/18 you get the height and less rubber contacting the road . Might not look quite as good but you can still have decent mpg , if you don't care about mpg go for it they will look great ...
