$200 for 4 used Trail Grapplers. Good deal?
Hey all, some of you may have helped me before, but now my dad has given me second thoughts. My friends dad is selling me his tires that he was getting tired of (tired lol) because they were large and rubbing on his tundra. I figured this would be a good way to see how the big tire life and leveling lift is without going all in. Wear is relatively even and no cracks or scuffs. Question for yall, is this a good deal? How much tread would you say is left? Thanks!

My thoughts were to see how I like big tires/fill the wheel wells for the time being until I can afford some nice tires, but do you still think no is the best answer even in that circumstance? (not trying to sway your opinion, just want to see if my thoughts are ridiculous or reasonable)
Also think these might be better than my stock in the snow?
Thanks again for your input!

Hmm you really think so? I'm getting them at about 13% of the new cost and I figured it had around 20% of their life left but I could be totally wrong (I know nothing about tires)

2/32 is the minimum tread depth to be legal, but 5/32 is the recommended replacement for truck tires. So yeah, those look about done to me. But then again, I only have some pictures to go by, and can't measure with a tread gauge.

Are you getting them mounted and balanced for free? What are you doing with your current tires? Are you paying to dispose of them or selling them? There are other costs involved, or at least there could be, depending on your situation.

I'm learning so much now, thank you! Lets say they are 6/32-7/32. How many miles would you guess I can get out of them? If they can last me a year, that could give me enough time to feel them out and decide if I like big tires

All depends on your driving style. If they're MTs be prepared to replace them much sooner than you would an AT.
If you want to see how you like big tires, you might want to bite the bullet and buy new ones. Big tires with worn tread (really, any truck tire with worn tread) can be downright scary in bad weather. They're also likely to buzz more and have a much more harsh ride.

If that's the case, and you just want the big tire look I would strongly suggest sticking with an A/T tire.
