Default 1998 4x4 problem

The other day I was driving and decided I need to make sure my 4x4 was still working properly. So I put it in neutral at a stop and flipped the switch to 4 high and the truck moved forward a few feet them the front crouched down and the back of the truck raised and stopped there( I know that probably sounds like a rediculess description of what it's doing but that's exactly what it's doing) and it just wouldn't go. If I have it a little gas the back tires would start to spin like I was trying to do a burn out or something. It put it in reverse and the same thing happend. In both low and high the same thing happens. The truck woks perfectly fine in 2 wheel drive but will only move a few feet in either direction in 4x4. If you have any thoughts on what the problem might be please help me out! Thanks!

It also makes no noises at all, no grinding, banging, or anything

Are your gear ratios the same? Try putting it on jackstands then putting it into 4wd for closer inspection. Somethings blinding up.. front r&p maybe? Bearings?
