Squishy Heads
d-bros up front and Deavers in the back with a bed cage and a quality coil over. you should be able to get 18in strapped with that set up if IIRC. Which would be a good setup for street and dirt.
A 4-link would be good to have as well, but that fat money and a lot of fab.

Camburg is the way to go. Friendly staff and extremely helpful. 2 of my friends have bought kits through them. Highly recomended: http://www.camburg.com/ford/97-03-f1...ffroad-system/

Personally Id go lift, shocks, fiberglass, tires, bumper. That way you can do one step at a time while still having a working decent looking truck without having to invest in tires twice if you buy a set now. Its a low buck approach but will get you the look you want and a decent off roader.
Latter down the road as you find the limits of your truck you'll want to re-gear to probably 4.56 or 4.30 with atleast a limited slip in the rear.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I'm going to throw a little money in and see what I get. Then I can start upgrading my engine and trans. if all goes well. And thanks for the pic. southernblues that truck looks great. Can you tell me what kind of wheels those are (brand, dealer etc.)?

December 2009 TOTM!
Your looking at a fat chunk of cash just for the suspension... true long travel, atleast $5,000.. Your best bet right now is to get a leveling kit to lift the front a hair higher than the rear for the prerunner look. Get rims and tires of your choice. Get a bumper built, lights... you could do fiberglass front and rears but I'd wait til you get your suspension. And there isn't much buying a few suspension parts, putting them on, get more later on. You got to buy the entire kit which is $5,000+... so think this over.
