One small item, it may be misunderstood about one full turn past hand tight. Actually it's one full turn after the filter gasket contacts the engine block. If someone were to tighten it as tight as they could get it by hand and then crank it down more with a filter wrench that would be way too tight.

Nice job blackbetty, went out to do the same but spilled my beer so to heck with it. In a serious note, while the hood is open every one should look and see what else is going on, like all the levels, brakes, P/S, tranny rear diff, washer fluid and also belts and coolant. Finish it off by checking air pressure. Big question is, we pay for this service, but do they do it?

We don't have to reset the computer do we?? I only ask because before I started changing my oil in my Malibu the dealership said that you had to reset the computer so it would register that the oil had been changed.

It sounded like a buttload of crap to me.

Oh and while we're on this subject, what kind of oil filters and what kind of oil does everyone use??

I've been using Mobil 1 but I was thinking about switching to Royal Purple. I also have been using a Mobil oil filter.

What about y'all?? What do y'all use??

motorcraft is the best imo and if your under warentee then if you use any filter other then motorcraft you can void your warentee.

and no to the computer question, gm and honda i know have computers that track oil life and other things

I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle.

After I change the oil, how do I set the
computer to stop having it give the signal
" Oil needs changing ", or words to that effect.

I have pressed the reset button like the book says
but the signal only goes away only for the period of time
that I have the motor running.

The reset button has to be pushed every time the motor
is restarted.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell
me how to reset this computer readout.

Replacement and service parts do have to "meet or exceed" manufacturers specifications to maintain manufacturers warranty.

I am using Pennzoil Full synthetic on my '03 f150 with a Fram tough guard filter. I love this combo because i went about 7500 miles between changes and the oil was still pretty clean, but just to be safe I changed it anyway.

i am well aware of that case, however....they need to prove that the part exceeded the quality....most parts and oils dont need to prove it to put it on the box..

..but while under the factory coverage they can tell you they want the factory part to be used because of the relief valve inside or so i was told by the techs at my ford dealer
