Would Nitto Trail Grapplers stiffen the ride of my truck?
I have a 2009 F150 Lariat 2wd and I would like to put Nitto Trail Grapplers on it. My dad doesnt want me to get them because he says it will stiffen the ride a lot. It wouldnt really bother me but it will for my dad and he borrows it every now and then.

Yes they are a little rougher compared to a normal street tire, but they ride smoother than my previous tires which were A/T tires. The trail grapplers are smooth in general except when going under 10mph. You can feel the voids in the thread.

Keep in mind its an M/T if your not doing any off roading their not the best choice for you. I now drive 80 plus miles a day so I hear and feel the tires more than before. So just consider what you use your truck for in the long run.
Yes their an awesome looking tire and I love when people keep staring back to check them out

It really depends on how sensitive you and your dad are to ride comfort. Some people are just more sensitive to it than others.
Technically speaking though, the comfort of your ride will be determined by a few things, tire pressure, tire ply rating and load index and, tread pattern and tire size.
Nitto tires actually ride really nice, even their MT's. They are built using segmented molds and their belts are a continuous wrap. The combination of these two things reduces the amount of weight used to balance them and helps keep the tire's rotation as smooth as possible.
If you have the stock tires now and you are looking at a "D" or "E" ply rated option, you will notices a difference in the stiffness of the ride but if you adjust the pressure correctly the difference shouldn't be dramatic for everyday driving. If you use your truck to tow or haul heavy loads, a higher rated tire would actually help improve the vehicles response and stability.
