Default Tint Installation Guide

Hey F150 Lovers. Here's how you install tint on this beast.

I know what you're thinking, tint? Why? Because it'll keep you cooler in the summer, DUH!

In one weekend, you can be freed of that "Hey, I just got back from grocery shopping for an hour and... Oh NO! the car seats are blazing hot! Blast this southern heat!" situation.

Precautions

Buy high quality tint. Avoid the cheap stuff. There are reports online of people buying cheap tint off of eBay and receiving, basically, film of dark plastic. This won’t protect the car from UV rays, heat, or anything tint was intended for. Plus, these things don’t last that long.

Research what tint’s legal for your area. The US is a federalist country so there’s federal, state, and municipal laws. The federal law only applies to commercial vehicles so check with your state and (if they have any) municipal. This site is the most reliable place for state law.

Preparation

You’ll need:

  • tint
  • window cleaner
  • application fluid
  • spray bottle
  • squeegee
  • micro-fiber cloth
  • something hard and flat, like a credit card
  • heat gun (for rear window)
  • new safety razer

Execution

This is for the side windows.

Wash your hands.

Clean your car. This minimizes the chance that dust from the car will get on the window during installation.

Clean the windows, inside and out, with window cleaner. Do it twice to make sure. Use a lint free cloth.

Spray the application fluid on the outside of the window.

Take the tint and place it on the outside of the window with the tint side down.

Squeegee the tint until it lays flat on the window. Trim excess tint on the top, left, and right side of the window. Leave a 2” hang on the bottom.

Spray the inside of the window with application fluid.

Peel the clear film away from the tint slowly. Spray the application fluid as you peel. This will prevent the tint from attracting dust in the air.

Take the tint and place it on the inside side of the window. You might need to roll the window down a bit. Match up the sides and squeegee until flat. Use a credit card wrapped in cloth for bubbles. Then, take the credit card and push the 2” hang below the gasket.

For rear window installation, its best to watch a video. This guide is the best

Post-Installation

Don’t roll your window down for 2 days. Leave it in the sun to dry.

And that's it! Enjoy.

WHOOPS! I read this forum as "windows and tires" which was odd since it was all about tires and no windows -_-

Mods, can you please move this to the right forum? THanks.
