Default Tire Choices...

there are so many, but i have narrowed it down. i am looking at the Nitto Terra Grapplers, General Grabber AT2's and the Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 and SAT KL61. i will either be running my stock 18" wheels and 265/70/18s or i will get new 17" wheels and run 285/70/17s. keep in mind i have a 2wd truck and will need a good winter tire should we get some snow in NC this year. i do have the limited slip rear end, so adding weight to the bed for winter should work fine for me. i am not looking for LT tires, i am looking for the PMetric tires. all of these tires come in the Pmetric sizes i am looking at. what are your OPINIONS on these tires? i need to choose one pretty soon.

Nittos are very good and the Generals are great for a better price. Can't say anything about the kumhos.

I am on my third set of General Grabber AT2's. I run 265/70's On 18 inch wheels. I cannot say enough good about general grabbers. The prices very competitive when compared to BFGoodrich all-terrain's, which the general grabbers are basically a knock off from the more expensive BFGoodrich tire. The bonus is twofold, first you pay less for the general grabbers, and secondly The grabbers have a much longer tread life compared to BFGoodrich. I live in Canada in snow country and these tires perform extremely well in snow and ice and very well also on dry conditions with next to no road noise especially given their aggressive tread.
I've heard of people mentioning if they were going to run at 265/70 that they would be needing to put a leveling kit on the truck. I don't understand what the purpose of that is for, as mine fits perfectly on my truck. If anybody can put some light on the topic of these leveling kits it would much appreciated.

@ Koda.
I'm about to order the AT2's myself. Gonna run 275/65/18. I'm installing a 2.5" level because i dont like the factory rake. Too extreme on my 05. But, yeah, I dont think its needed to clear that tire size. A friend has what you are running on a stock 09 i believe with no modifications, with no rubbing.
Thanks for the input on the AT2's.. They are great in the rain. Haven't run them in snow yet.
