Default Need Tire advice, best tire

Hi guys,

I'm in need of replacing my current tires on my 05 f150 fx4 with the stock 18" wheels. I'm kinda looking for something that looks beefy but doesnt give much road noise and a good thread life. I thought I had found some good ones: goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, destination A/T, or the Nitto Terra Grappler but have been reading reviews and now I'm so torn.

What do you all suggest? What have you had the best experience with? I live in the midwest and deal with rain/slee/snow/dry conditions.

Thanks,
Jason

I used to sell tires back in the day, those Goodyear silent armor are awesome. The kevlar lining in them not only helps protect against puncture, but it cushions the tire to reduce road noise and bumpyness. And the tread on them is fairly agressive for light to medium off roading. They're no Mud Terrains but they'll get ya out of a pickle.

You picked some really good tires there honestly. I would say either the Nitto or the Goodyear. The Nitto is better Offroad but isn't as quiet and the ride won't be as good as the Gdyr.

Ive had the terra grapplers for a year, they are super quiet, drive nice on the highway which is about 85% of my driving. No complaints.

I've had my terra grapplers on for about 45k miles. Think I have another 20k left on them. Great tire at a good price.

Goodyear Duratrac's. Agressive, long lasting, quiet. I have a set of 275/70r18's on my truck and love them! I live up in MN and drive in all of the above, never been disappointed by them.

I just bought Toyo Open Country AT2's in 295/70/18 for my 2005 FX4 SCREW. I absolutely love them. Truck looks so much better now. They look quite well in the wheel well's and they have an agressive look to them with very little road noise. I have had many compliments on them already. I highly recommend them!!

X2. I have the tires and size on my truck. They look aggressive, last just as long as an a/t, and they are super quiet on the road. Plus if you go off-road they are great.

Plus, at least when I was bought them, they were cheaper than the nitto and toyo a/t's.

I had the Cooper ATP on my last F150 and had them on for 20k before I got my new truck. I do a lot of highway time and they were a great tire. I just put another set on the FJ. Not sure how similar the A/T3 & ATP are though.
