Need Help Picking Tires
Hey guys, haven't posted on here much but It's time for me to get some new tires for my '12. My XLT has 27,000 miles on it with original Goodyear Wrangler tires. I needed new tires for the last few thousand miles, but just didn't have the funds available. Now I do.
Went to the local shop and I've basically narrowed it down to the Cooper Discoverer AT3 or the Firestone Destination LE. I told them I drive a lot of highway miles but also need something for slick roads or snow. There is an $80 mail in rebate with the Coopers and they would end up being about $40 less than the Firestone. The reviews seem to be good for both, both have warranties also. It just seems the Coopers are a ton more aggressive than the Firestones and I don't want to give up fuel economy while on the highway.
What would you guys pick?

Have you considered the Firestone Destination AT's? I had these on my 2002 and absolutely loved them. Great tire for the price and I did a lot of HWY driving with mine. Had 30k miles on them before I sold that truck and they had about 50% tread left. Rode great, quiet, and didn't hurt my MPG's.
Also, what size tire are you looking at?

If mpg's are important I would look into the weight and rolling resistance of the two you have picked. I went with General Grabber AT2's in stock 275/65-18 and lost 3-4 mpg's. Being the stock Goodyears weigh 39lbs and the Generals were 44lbs, I thought the 5lbs would be negligible. I was wrong and now looking for new tires.

Well I was on my way home from work today on the highway and all of a sudden my low tire pressure light goes off. Pulled over to find a nice size bolt on the inside of my rear passenger tire. Definitely toast. Looks like I'll be getting new tires sooner than later...

I Like Tires
Had a customer call me yesterday saying "Man my TPMS light came on and 15 minutes later my tire blew out! That piece of junk doesn't do anything!!" I just told him I'm surprised he was able to drive that far.
