Default Discount tire review/ new falken rocky mountain ats

hey guys just wanted to do a small review on discount tire direct. well all i can say is i am extremely pleased. I ordered my tires on a saturday, so the order went through on monday, and by wednesday that week i had my new Falkens delivered to my door free of any shipping charges. i give a BIG thumbs up to discount tire direct on the prices and the free shipping.

The next part of this is a review of my falken tires... well more like my initial impressions of them. I do not have the tires installed yet, because im waiting on my rough country leveling kit and my rims (MB motoring TKO's). I went with 285/70/17's for the size, but what really impressed me when i saw them was how aggressive the tread is. I was torn for a while on whether to get an A/T tire or an M/T tire, but what i got is sorta like a happy medium. The lugs are big enough in the middle for me to put my thumbs in them, and the tread depth is pretty deep. No, this is probably not the best hybrid on the market (my fav being the Dick Cepek FC-2) but it is an affordable mix, and did i mention the PRICE?? I paid 192 per tire. I also would like to mention the sidewall design makes the tire look very aggressive. I will post pics when i get everything installed, and also a review on handling etc. Until then if you have any questions on the tires or anything else just ask and ill be sure to answer

Thank you for your support JwS! Let us know what you think of the tires once you get some miles on them.

i have been running the same tires for a over a year now. put a little over 20k miles on them and they still look like over half of the tread is still on them. i am running a different size though, i have 265/70/18 on my stock wheels and 2wd with no level and they don't rub anywhere. these tires look great, handle the snow and rain great. overall i am happy with them. i too got mine from a local Discount Tire store and paid under $700 for them mounted and balanced and all the taxes and fees. big kudos to DT for the exceptional deal!!!

now, on to the bad review part. as with every Falken tire i have ever owned, these are starting to vibrate. they are cupping in spots and causing the truck to ride worse than i had hoped. i rotate them EVERY 5000 miles, and they are properly inflated once a week just to make sure everything is right. these have a 50k mile tread wear warranty i know, but i highly doubt if i will be able to stand them by then. in fact, in less than 6 months i will be looking to swap these for a less aggressive tread pattern tire. i will be switching back to an all season highway tire.

Just got the 20" tko with the rocky mountains and I love them! They of course aren't as smooth as the paradas I typically put on my trucks but they will give me better grip in the sand.
