I see a lot of people say. Bigger wheels change your shift points. But is that really true. Or getting worse MPG. stock 18" vs 22" limited wheels.

When going 70 on my 18" I would be going 72.8mph on my 22".

Isnt the MPG loss and higher RPMs just due to thinking your going 70 but in reality your going 2.8 mph faster.

So in theory 22" if you went 67.2 your RPMs and MPG would be the same as if you were going 70 on 18".

I know it matters what the tire size. But just using stock 18" to 22" for easy understanding.

Wheels won't change speedo at all. That is a function of tire diameter.

Larger wheels are heavier though and will affect MPGs, ride quality, braking and acceleration because you've got more mass spinning farther out from the hubs.

On my truck i compare it with my wifes minivan. See, from a yield sign by the highway to my driveway is 6 miles in the minivan and 5 miles in my truck (37" tires). So when i calculate my mileage i add the proportionate miles then divide by the gallons of gas.

So if my tripmeter says i went 150 miles, then i actually went 180. Its a tad off but better than thinking i get that bad of mileage. Im around 13.5 mpgs country driving.
