Default 35x12.50R20 on leveled 2012 fx4?

For whatever reason I really want to go with this size tire but have not found a definitive answer on if this will fit, I will be putting a RC 2.5" level and have the stock 20" fx4 wheel. I've read it will, it won't, kind of, etc. I don't want to be afraid to take my truck off a curb or something with the fear of tearing something up or rubbing too bad.

Hi,
Just visited 3 tire and 4 wheel aftermarket shops today up here and they say it is probably a bad idea with the level. Supposedly there could be some CV joint issues. I have ordered the bilstein 5100 setup ( they will setup at the second tallest setting) with blocks in the back end. Keeping the OD of tire at 34" OD seems to be a good spot using this 2-2.5 lift.
Also ordered new 20x9 Fuel Throttle wheels with a +20 offset with 275/65/20 BFG K02 tires. Didn't want them sticking out much more than I have now.
Seems Toyo is having some issues with the sidewalls as some dealers mentioned they have had a lot of problems on the ATII. First I have heard of it though. I use Toyo winter tires on all my families vehicles.
Hope this helps.

'13 FX4 with 2" HBS Level, 35x12.50x20 Cooper ST Maxx tires and XD778 rims. Tires fit great with some minor trimming on the plastic in front of the tires. Had to trim about an inch.

That looks fantastic! Looks those xd 's are with a +35 offset to keep them tucked in ? or +18. If you have time a pic or two from the front showing how far they stick out would be appreciated.
Any block in rear?
Thanks very much. Cheers!

You will need 4 to 5 inches of backing spacing and a bigger lift. Unless you plan on running over just small rocks. No space in the fenderwells as you can see.

From what I have seen on this forum and elsewhere the 35's require 3 inch plus lift. I am surprised no rubbing issues on Ford99. The guy installing my new Bilsteins and tires said not to go to 35 x12.5 with my 20x9 Throttle and + 20 offset. Cheers!

Why not?

Here's my 2010 FX4 with Bilstein 5100's set to max in the front, 3" blocks in the rear (factory block removed), and longer Bilstein 5100's in the rear (designed for trucks with up to 2" of lift).

Tires are 35x12.50R18 KO2's on 18x9 +12 WORX rims. Had to do some minor trimming infront and behind the tire. Then when I added the heavy duty mud flaps, I cut 1/2" of metal off the bottom front edge of the fender to make room for them.

35x12.50R20 will be fine, it's the rim that you might have an issue with. I've even done them on just a 2" level with 9" wide +20 to +12 rims. Too much offset and you'll be rubbing on the outside of the tire. Not enough offset (like stock rims) and you'll be rubbing on the inside, on the control arm. You may need to get spacers or different rims to make that work, but it can be done with at least a 2" level.

If you have to trim and cut on your truck that is probably a good sign your lift isn't big enough. Not to mention stretching your suspension to the max.
