35" Tires on 20" Wheels. Will It Work with 5.75" Backspacing?
I've got 20x8.5 Liquid Metal Magma wheels on my '05 F-150 FX4. They have 5.75'' backspacing with a 25mm positive offset. I installed the 2.5'' leveling kit and I'm dying to get some mud tires on there. I would like to fit the Nitto Mud Grappler 35x12.5, but some people say you can't do it, some people say it's hit and miss depending on the brand and type, some people say they have done it with minor if any rubbing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I know I can't get too crazy with the width with 5.75'' backspacing, so I'm hoping 12.5'' will do the trick. What is the perfect offset and backspacing on aftermarket 20" wheels? I've also been looking into 305/60's and 285/65's. Would someone like to throw some brands and dimensions at me that will actually work? I would appreciate it. Thanks!

With the specs on that wheel and the height of the tires it sounds pretty good but might need some trimming and you might end up with a little rubbing. The only problem that I see is the Mud Grapplers. The side walls on those tires stick out at ton and will rub your upper control arm if the wheels aren't prefect.
Let me check on some other sites and see what others have done.

Most 35/12.50 tires are in fact over 13 inches wide...the Mud graps are 13.4 wide. you may find yourself rubbing your UCA.. a 285 0r 295 may be a better choice.

+25 is in there.. I ran a +12 on a 2.5" level.. I rubbed on the front and rear valance.. In your case you're most likely gonna rub the control arm.. You have a 20X8.5 or is it 9.5?? If your rims are new, take them back and get a offset in the negative or close to negative and you'll e good
