2010 expedition wheel cap clearance
Hey guys, I got a question
So I put my old FX wheels on my wife's expedition and they fit and all, but I can get the centercaps on the rear wheels because of the CV axle shank is sticking too far out, I bought some 1/8 hub centric spacers but I still have about 1/4" of gap til the center caps click.
I DO NOT want to run bolt-on spacers so my question is....
Can I safely cut off about 1/4-1/2" off the end of the threaded shank? I have a nice angle grinder and cut off wheels so it will be a clean cut,
That's all I need for the caps to go on, so just wondering if that axle shank is hollow or solid so I don't further damage anything. Here's some pics and thanks

Ok, well since nobody on either forum I'm on has done this then I'm gonna try it, I'll just do a small cut/shave on one side and I guess we'll see what happens!

I sure hope so, I'll post pics if I get to it this weekend, I'm doing a front brake job and drop spindles on my F150 so we'll see how that goes, thanks
