Default 17" vs 18" vs 20"

I have 17" OEM rims/tires on my14 with 8,000 miles on the Michelins. I'm thinking ahead to when I'll need new tires and wondering which size has more choices for tires. My driving is mostly on the street so not MTs.

Also, cost, and weight for the rims+ tires.

Take a look at one of the tire manny sites for an AT - I think you'll find 18s have a few more sizes thatn 17, and certainly more than 20s. Weight is gonna depend on how bug of a tire you want, but comparing a 35 in 20 and 18, the 18 is gonna weight a bit more as there is less wheel diameter and the same tire diameter.

Typically - In the same wheel, a 20 will be more than an 18, and an 18 more than a 17. When I was pricing my son's wheel tire combo the 18s with a similar diameter and width tire, the 18 package was about $200 more than the 17 package - Fuel Trophy's and Nitto G2s in this case

I've been looking on America's Tires and this seems to be about the only option I like:

Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 255 /65 R17 110H SL BSW $149.00

The same in 18" is $160:

Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S
265 /60 R18 110H SL BSW

After looking at the 17" vs 18", there seems to be 10 choices in 17" vs 30 choices in 18". Hmm. I didn't realize there was that many in 18". I may have to think about stepping up a size to 18" rims then.

Ya there definitely more choices in 18 but they are more money than the 17's. Thats how they get you. When I had my Lariat it was so hard to choose with all the options.

the weight of tires has and rims have to be included in the total weight of the vehicle? Like the payload of the truck?
Thanks
