I tried it both ways and settled on 0. It is suppose to allow for alignment with the door speakers. I had it set at 180 initially and just felt like it was lagging just ever so slightly with the door speakers. Almost like it was a half a second behind or something. I switched it to 0 this morning before I left for work and didn't seem to notice the lag on my ride into work. I don't know what is the correct setting for the unit. I would imagine that it would depend on your particular system and it might not be the same for everyone. I will keep tinkering with it to see if I can notice any differences. I can say that it sounded better this morning than it did last night though......

I've been playing around with it some on mine, but so as not to get off topic too much from the original content of this thread, we can discuss the Kicker Hideaway to more extent on the thread that ssmorga78 started...

This is probably one of the Best right ups I've seen on here. Thank you. I do have a question, I currently am running two 12's under the rear seat of my 2014 XLT screw. I'm totally happy with the sound I changed out all of my door speakers and just isn't enough. I want to ad another amp for my doors I have to run another hi/lo converter I know for the front speakers. My question is do I need to re-tap the rear speaker wires or can I just run a set of rca from old amp to the new for the rear doors

You will have to re-tap all 4 sets of speaker leads to run an amp for all 4 door speakers. What size amp are you planning on using for the doors? Is it one of the smaller ones that is designed to fit behind the head unit and provide 40w of power to each speaker? If so, the best place to tap into the wires is behind the head unit. There are options for an aftermarket harness that you can buy and splice into so that you don't have to cut up the factory wiring harness. There are several threads on here about how to do that as well that are very informative.

just a thought or question/comment
I am getting ready to do this today/ tomorrow, and i pulled away the rear carpet on the back wall, just to the right of the latch where you had a hard time removing the bolt I have a lug with 3-4 wires going to it from the left side of the truck, I assume that also is a ground and will test that during my install with the DMM
Ill take a pic to show you what I am talking about, but it may be an easier ground if it proves to be true.

Ok so now I'm pissed I don't know what I've done wrong. This is my first time dealing with hi/lo converters. I tapped all the speaker wires. Now here is my question. I put these speaker speaker wires to the converter and and RCA to the amp? Now what do I have to run new wires back to the door speakers?

2 sets of 9 wires,
1st set from the radio to the loc, second set from the amp back to the initial cut on the radio harness to complete the path

Yes new wires back to the door speakers is best. Don't cut harnesses

Southpaw, did you ever get the JL Audio to fit and let the seat fold upright? You had talked about cutting the carpet. Are you still digging the JL?
