This is the JL CP106LG-W3v3 installed under the 40 split side (directly behind diver). The jack is on the opposite side and I still have the middle open for storage

As you can see, there is no overhang like you would get from the CP108

Weird. The 40 split on my truck is on the passenger side. Thanks for the pic though. Did you have to do any cutting to make it fit? I looks like it barely fit into that space.

No cutting or moving anything at all. It fit in with less than 1/2-1/4 inch to spare. Go to your local Kicker dealer and ask them if you can set it in your truck to see the fit. You will need an amp to drive it. I installed the Kicker 300.1 mono 4 ohm amp and it will fit under either seat without taking up all the space. I was considering getting the Focal 5x7 Acess speakers but went with Kicker CS68 coaxile instead. The system sounds really good and very clear with good bump and low end response

I too had been out of car audio for some 10 plus years and just wanted to replace what I had been listening too and man was it a dramatic improvement. I was amazed at what that 6" sub would produce. it doesn't hit like dual 10's or 12's but that isn't what I was after. I am now looking to install a set of KST254 tweeters on the door just behind where the exterior mirrors are just to bring out the "high's" just a little more for my liking. If you have any questions, just PM me and I would be more than glad to answer any questions for you.
I was only looking at the 8, but considering the 6 1/2" like you have. After a couple weeks with it, are you still impressed? Does it get fairly low since it's ported?

Just to update... The CP106 sounded good, but it wasn't quite enough. Got the CP108 yesterday and it is definitely more impressive. It's a snug fit under the rear seat, but it does fit fine. I'm hoping to have time to swap out the JL 250/1 for a JL 500/1 this weekend. It just seems like the 250 can't push it quite hard enough. It was perfect for the CP106 though.
