Subscribing for more info...

I'm wanting to look into this too. I just bought a '13 FX4 and am wanting to upgrade the system to components and two subs in the rear. I will be going to my local shop next week to see if they can do anything.

So... Did the pro's know how to keep the factory volume control while bypassing the factory DSP?

No luck. Also talked to PAC concerning their existing harness AOEM-FRD24. They should have a new one soon that works with the 2013 systems but I don't know how (or if) they will address the volume roll-off.

I agree with your installer about losing volume control, but all of the sound processer that I've seen have a volume that you'll need to use. Some of the sound processors can be installed after the amp. The factor volume ***** will still function but then you still have the problem with the factory rolloff being different at different volumes.
X2. You'll still have volume functionality but you just wont have the full range. I believe the Idea is to set it just before the factory cutoff then use the dsp volume from there. At that point you can still use your factory vol control just to lower the volume if needed. Kinda of a small nuisance but the price you gotta pay for factory integration.

In a similar boat trying to figure out how to get an aftermarket sub/amp installed while retaining all the other OEM equipment. Really hard to find a straight answer on that.
