After alot of research I decided on a 10" vented 09'up Fox Acoustics enclosure due to a descent mounting depth and also cause its vented. Humming along with only 1 10" the vent would help make up for not having a pair.

I'm picking a sub first cause of the limitations my shallow box has, or is it shallow. With a 6.25 mounting depth I think I'm doing ok.

From the specs these subs should fit:

The sundown may not work due to its high excursion limit mentioned by another member but was hoping others would chime in...


Am I seeing correctly.. Would the above subs work.. Oh and king nothing I'm still unsure if there's a performance difference between 2ohm DVC or 4ohmDVC sub.... Have not picked an amp yet so could go with either.

I have the dual fox box vented with 2 10w3v3s on a RF Prime 1200/1. theyre only getting 400 each do to the ohm load, but it SLAMS

Nice! What ohm's are you running. I understand dvc sub at 4 drops the amp to 2 and 2 drops the amp to 1ohm but is it beneficial to pick one over the other.... Oh are you getting any contact from the sub to the carpet..

There is no performance difference between dual 4 and dual 2 subs. Pick an amp, then buy a sub that matches. Or pick a sub and buy an amp to match. If your amp makes max power at 2 ohms buy a dual 4 sub and wire in parallel for a 2 ohm load. If the amp does its power at 1 ohm buy a dual 2 sub

P.s. the JL 10w3 you linked to is a single 4. Looks like the w3s are only available in single voice coils, which again says nothing about performance, just wiring flexibility. You will probably want the 2 ohm version matched with a 5-600w at 2 ohm amp if you go with the w3

As usual great info brother. I'm leaning towards the type R but not sure if I want to get into that type of wattage. Don't want to get into alternator swaps and battery upgrades, the trucks brand new.

Then again the type R's a clean hundo$ less. So which sub should I go with.. The W3 or Type R.

You wont need a full 1000w for the type-r, especially in a ported box. Your truck could run a 1000w amp without any problems, but 6-700 on the type-r would be plenty. For the $100 difference I'd be picking the type-r. I doubt there would be an audible difference betwen the 2 so you might as well save some money

Woo HOOO!! Alright I have time before I order that cause Fox can be slow sometimes and my order still says pending. To bad no ones mentioned success with an SA 10. Heard of someone running them in the Double 10" fox box but then it didn't workout for another in their single.

So if I run this sub at 600 watts there should be enough power to hook up a 4 channel in the future.... Probably very near future.

Still considering this amp you recommended.

Id prefer to see around 700 on that type-r. Since you opened up a can of worms by mentioning adding a 4 channel, why not spend that Benjamin you're saving on the sub and buy a 5 channel amp now? Makes installation alot easier because you only have to run one power and ground wire and find room for one amp.

Well Ive opened a few cans since I dedcided to do all this but I'm going to opt for a two amp system. Now this is what I may go with, it identical to the other JBL but some xtra bang.

You think the speaker-level signals with RCA-to-bare-wire adapters actually work. Never seen this before, I can't remember which amps eliminate the need for an LOC but that would be a nice feature

That looks like a solid amp. Ive never used an amp that uses adapters like that one does for speaker-level inputs. Harman/JBL is a solid company though and i dont see them putting out something that doesnt work. Sonic electronix says 8ga power and ground wire. Crutchfield recommends 4ga. If you run 4ga you can power both amps off of it when you add your 4 channel. Looks like Crutchfield is the same price. I would order from them. Top notch company to deal with
