Upgrading charging system-a few q
I have a larger alternator and did the big 3 but still my lights are dimming. The last thing to try to replace is the battery. It is the factory battery, however before I run out and drop $70 on a new one, anything else I can try?
The alternator was bought from here: http://www.dbelectrical.com/
It is a 220a version that is also set for 14.5 volts. I get 14.2 at the amps.
Currently I estimate about 140a of draw for the stereo. How I figure this: amp using for highs 2*30=60a, fusing for sub amp 3*40=120a, total of 160a, and then 80% of that=144a I know my math isn't exact or all that correct here, but hand grenade approach
Now thinking down the road, I can double the wattage on my woofers, and to do so, I need to bolster my charging system more yet. I am thinking I would need to add at least 1 more battery and switch to 1/0 wire. If I upgrade, I would be looking to push 2,000-2,400 rms to my subs
With that said, what brand should I look at for batteries or isolators?

IMO i'd stay away from Optima's. They are not built like they used to be. I'd just soon have a wal mart battery over a optima anymore.

yea odyssey batteries are good too, i've owned a couple. they are great powersports batteries. dont really agree with a walmart battery being equal to an optima but hey to each their own
