Sorry to hear of your troubles. How did you end up installing it - high levels from HU or RCAs?

I dont have any experience with the Alpine so probably not much help.

If you used PayPal open a dispute or call your CC company and do the same.

I then waited until today to tune it more with the laptop. I noticed right away that it lost its tune and sounded pretty crappy. I called Alpine three times, and tried something different every time to fix it. Did the troubleshooting on all my connections, and everything is right except the signals being put out by the unit. Now both left side speakers produce little or no sound, and the h660 has decided my rear left 5x7 is a sub and my rear right is a satellite (whatever that means). It seems to lose its tune every time and revert back to a low output with high distortion. Of course Alpine says this is all wrong, and on top of it, they don't know why it is functioning like that or how to fix it.

To make matters worse I don't have the factory warranty. I thought I did since it was brand new and unopened, but I don't since the seller was not an authorized Alpine dealer (I bought from the best rated seller I could find on ebay not knowing about the authorized dealer thing).

I'm pretty certain the unit is defective. If anyone experienced with these can confirm this or tell me otherwise please let me know because I only have two business days to work with before I am stuck with it according to the seller's policy. Thanks in advance.
I worked with mine for a couple of weeks before I figured it out.( At least I think I do.) What I did when tuning mine is play a CD with a 1k Hz signal or somewhere around there and measure the outputs (AC on an VOM) at the amp. Adjust the 660 until all outputs on your amp read as close to one another as possible (on the VOM). AND REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES!!! That one took me a while to figure out. I worked with Alpine Cust. support that they were of no use. I hope this helps.

FYI, my first one was defective, I have read that there were a lot of bad ones sent out by alpine. If yours is making sound, I doubt it is defective. I know when I did the tune with the mic, all of the outputs were say off from each other.

I will be installing my H660 this weekend. If I have issues with it, then it will be the 800 taking its place. That thing is a beast.

I have tried RCA's to the auxiliary inputs, and I have also tried factory wires directly to the autoranging inputs. the only difference was that there is no prompt for playing the second track during the initial setup of the antEQ when I use the auxiliary inputs. Alpine said this is not an issue.

My biggest issues are that it says my rear left 5x7 is a sub, and it only sends it bass frequencies (Alpine tech says this is wrong). Maybe it is losing the tune because I'm not saving it properly, but I'm not sure of that because when it does "lose its tune" it basically sounds like the unit is hardly putting out any decent sound. But I don't know.

Do you have the Sony Nav?? Here is how I wired mine...
Front Tweets to L1 and L2 auto ranging inputs.
Front Door speakers to R1 and R2 auto ranging inputs.
Left the sub unconnected.

I did not use the Front 1 output.
Front 2 output to Amp.
Rear output to Amp.
Sub to Amp.
Make sure your Aux Source is Off.
Run through the whole Setup crap again and they go to page 31 of the Owners manual. This is where I adjusted the gains up to where it started to clip. Then I backed it off and used my VOM and a 1k Hz CD to adjust to where all outputs were the same at the amps.

Don't know if this will help you, but it is what worked for me. I didn't run into any problems with the 660 thinking one of the door speakers was a sub... that's wierd. The first time I wired it up I used all four door speakers going to the auto ranging inputs and that didn't work. If you just have one speaker in the door without the tweeter in the pillar, try unhooking the rear inputs. You will lose fade control at the HU, but you will still have it with the 660's remote.

Nuthinggoesrite: I have the standard system with sync (not Sony). I connected to the autoranging inputs per the alpine manual.

I talked to the local alpine installer and he said it is defective. He also said there are a lot of defective units being sold by unauthorized dealers. I am going to try to get a refund and then buy directly through Alpine.

No issues with my install other than hooking the rear's up to the auto ranging input. Only the fronts get hooked up using both sets of inputs on the unit. L1 and L2 together and R1 and R2 together, if that makes sense.

Glad to hear your install went well. How does your system sound now, and how long did it take you to tune it?
