Default Tuning help with Sound Ordnance B-8PT and PAC

For Christmas I received a S/O B-8PT and PAC aoem-24. Install went good but I can't get this thing to sound good. The sub level goes way up at low radio volume and fades away as you turn the radio up. I constantly have to adjust the sub level. Even just song to song it varies so much. It also seems really boomy and muddy. I have the LPF set to 80hz, Phase at 0, Eq at 0, and the remote level I constantly adjust from 25%-75%.

So what settings is everybody using? I mostly listen to rock, classic to new. Just can't get it where I like it. I have it mounted ( basically zip tied to the rear wall vent) behind the rear seat. Is the factory stereo to blame? Or is it the PAC or sub? Thinking of returning it but don't want to hurt any feelings, if you catch my drift.
