yes i am affiliated with dc sound lab, i am a sales rep for the company and can get your squared away with your sub purchases please feel free to contact me...for website information www.dcsoundlab.com i have prices on hand for every level excluding level 6 as it is a specialty item....i want to be able to extend to you the ability to run the worlds loudest subwoofer's on the market with some of the best sq (sounds like a infomercial dosnt it :P)....i also do box designs for those of you wanting information on what type of box you would need with these subs, you get a cut sheet and full dimensions (picture) of the box for very cheap. pm me, or email me to the email in my sig.

Did DC ever change the parts they were using? Last time I saw/heard one it sounded subpar (understand I dont care for SPL, I'm after SQ). Designed for high throw and extreme SPL, but a serious lack of distortion reducing components. Outdated motor topologies, no inductance sleeves, no copper etc. Any plans for a truly SQ oriented driver?

it depends what driver you heard...i have used every level subwoofer and while they have all sounded great some have sounded better than others...remember to now base your entire opinion on 1 install as its 80% install and 20% equipment, even a 1000 dollar subwoofer can sound like a 20 one....if i had to push you into the direction of their sq sub it would be the level 3 and the xl...but yes alot of their stuff has changed, cones, leades etc...and everything is customizable...if you have any more questions please ask

I agree its about install versus equipment. I've heard SQ systems built with low dollar home audio drivers that sounded as good as installs with some of the best equipment available. Aiming, DSP, path lengths, treatments all play a huge role.
I was more concerned about the build of their drivers. To me it looks like they are a very basic design that is aimed completely at SPL. Basic overhung motor slugs (versus XBL^2 or LMS), no shorting rings, no inductance reduction...I just dont see these being used as anything other than high distortion SPL drivers.
Also, where are they built? Do you have any klippel or distortion data on these drivers?

they are built out of reno, all of their spec's are on there website...at the end of the day sq is completely subjective, so if you dont like dc subs then your not gonna like dc subs...the lvl 3 and xl (what i run) sound the best imo....these subs look very basic from the pictures, they have extra's on them though for cooling features and what not that are simply amazing but oh so simple

I'll give credit they got the 6 and the new neo motors nobody know about. Those look sick and I want some! I just don't know about the gap tolerances... And I'll be honest I have a lvl4 an it has a loose gap I think thats why it holds so much power, the xl gap is almost the same iirc its slightly tighter. I don't know how familiar u are with coil gaps but the Dd9500 gap could fit in the 4 and xl gap 2 times.
My lvl4 did sound good tho and so did the xl my buddy had except for the deformed former rubbing the pole from the Recone we got?idk what the heck that was about. We thought there was spacers stuck under the dust cap and the dang former had been bent in 3 spots and was rubbing the pole. That's the only problem I've ever had from dc

Aint that the truth! hah. Except RE did have a couple of nice drivers like the XXX midwoofers that were based off the Adire Extremis. 7" drivers with 11mm xmax and the XBL motor, squeaky clean 60-1kHz, beastly little midbass woofers.
And Im not bagging DC either, just curious if they have plans to move onto some more modern driver designs.
