Default Is there a way to use the installed Sync mic w/ aftermarket radio?

I want to install a Pioneer AVIC-8000nex on my 2014 XLT with Sync and 4.2" screen and was hoping if there is a way to use the currently installed Sync mic instead of using the mic that comes with the unit.

Any light on the subject will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

M.

Do it yourself. Find a pinout, tap the wire in the stock harness and see if it works.

Should be able to do it. However I don't know which wires to tap into.

Buy a Maestro RR and their FOR01 harness. Uses the stock mic. At least it does with Kenwood. Might want to call them and find out about Pioneer.

Also, if the Maestro is supported by your Pioneer head unit all you SYNC functions with the exception of the clock will work again as well as your steering wheel controls.

You can retain Sync and use the factory microphone for calls though Sync. However, if you are getting the NEX radio for Car Play, when you connect your iPhone and use car play, it requires the Pioneer microphone to be used. You cannot rewire the factory mic to use with Pioneer easily. Some people have added some circuitry and there are some forums that explain what some people have tried/done. Check out AVIC411 for example.

When using Maestro in the new pickups with My Ford (4.2 inch color screen) with Pioneer NEX radios (and compatible Kenwood and Alpine models) you can retain Sync Hands free calling and Sync media player and use with the existing voice commands. In addition, Pioneer does not have screens for Tire Pressure, visual parking assist (which is new and works in the 2014) or Gauges. Both Kenwood and Alpine add these screens.

The application is called FO2 (harness is HRN-RR-FO2). You have to use dash kit from another company that will keep 4.2 inch screen in dash with clock working. However, we are unable to put audio meta data on it so it's fairly useless.

To provide a better solution, we are launching our own dash kit that places radio higher in dash, remove 4.2 (we put all of info there into new radio screens), include factory look/feel HVAC controls and add pocket at bottom. Cool thing about pocket is flush mount USB (x2), HDMI and 3.5mm AV Jack built in so anything on back of radio can be used in pocket. See image below, ***** labels are sideways and some button icons are wrong, but you will get idea. We plan to ship this in Q1 2015 with the T-harness you need included. Price is TBD still.
