Default Tell us about your truck's stereo or stereo plans!!

Well, I made the mistake of getting into a buddie's truck with the whole nine yards!! So now I HAVE to get a better system. Sucks too because everytime I've put a stereo in my past trucks, I get ripped off no matter HOW carefull I am... I first planned on leaving my stock 6disc HU in but now I want to go with hi def radio. I've been looking at the JVC HDR1 for my deck and Polk Audio MOMO 6.5" components up front and MOMO 6x8 coax's in the rear. I am going to amp the fronts and possibly a sub in the future from a 4channel 400w alpine amp. For the sub, I would do a Polk MOMO 10" DVC in a prefab ebay box under my backseat...

Whats your stereo and/or ideas look like??

Default Stereo Plans

My finals plans are to have a pioneer flip out DVD. I am going to have all JBL speakers. JBL components in the front doors and JBL speakers in the back. Then get a custom fit box under the rear seat with 2 12" JBL subs. Until that point i am going to get a cd deck that is ipod compatible and the same speakers minus custom sub box. Instead i have a box that sits on the rear sit with 2 12" Sony Xplode Subs.

I had a pioneer DVD NAV. flip out in my last truck. It was the AVIC-N1. That was a great head unit. The DVD was easy to bypass so it would play movies all the time. That unit has so many options for it like rear camera, TV tuner, cd changer, voice command....... and more. You can get them on ebay for under a grand new.

I know what you mean. I bought my new nav unit off ebay. It only took two weeks and it broke. The seller was really good about it and replaced it. The best thing I can say is read there feedback if you go that route And buy a brand new one. There are a few seller that sell them new on there and thats about the going price for them, I think. It seemed like the used ones go for around 600. Here is what I did. The kids like this set up better. They had a hard time viewing the head unit dvd in the last truck.

Click on the pictures for a larger view.

Nav unit

DVDs, both head units have built in dvd players that interlink with each other and have game hook ups.

That's what it was in in my last truck. It was viewable but you have to lean over a little to see it unless you sit in the middle. That unit also has a port to add more monitors so you could always add more later if needed. Either a single overhead or dual headrests.
