System Questions 2
Howdy Yall
Well this is thread #2 on my bass system questions. The first one I asked your opinion on something I really wanted. Now im gonna ask what YOU think I should get. And also a suggestion from me. I saw the JL Audio 13.5 inch shallow mount TW5 Driver. Yall know I want some really slammin bass for my truck. What sub and amp combos do you suggest, and is that shallow mount gonna be good for me? im open to anything, 2 10's, 3 12's, 2 12's. Whatever, just let me know what you think.

Use a pair of JL Audio 10w3's powered by a JL Audio 500/1 amp.
Heres the only sub box that can hold subs that deep.

You can read the reviews and if you click on the pic there are more of it installed in a supercrew.
This is the best combination that I've ever heard for a supercrew.

Yes, the same box fits both the extended and crew cab. The first review was from someone that has the extended cab. The second didn't say. I think the thrid might have been a crew cab. The crew cab is whats shown in the pictures.

10's aren't gonna hit that deep. They do ok, just aren't deep hitting subs. 12's or higher are gonna give you deep bass.
I have two Memphis 10's and they knock. Nothing like 12's I use to have though.

I don't want to start a argument but thats bad advise.
Unless you had a box on top of your seats with the proper air volume or you went extreme and jacked you seat up you don't have the right air space.
You only have 1.2 cubic feet to work with under the seat of a super crew and thats .6 per sub. Cheaper import boxes only have .9-1 cubic feet.
A pair of JL w3 10's will be in there OPTIMUM sealed air volume @ .6 each.
No 12 will work well in .6 cubic feet so the bass will be punchy and have a hump in the response from 60hz and up and roll off bad from 40 and down.
Just about any 10 will play flat and accurate to 20hz and bellow.
I've been in this business for 12 years and its amazing how many people are still stuck on the bigger is better boat.
If you have the airspace its better but when you don't your shooting yourself in the foot.
A 8" sub in the proper enclosure will play just as deep as a 15" sub. Just not as loud.
