Default Sync and Samsung S4

So, been real happy with the S4 paired to sync via bluetooth, makes calls, reads or speaks texts, streams music...It's all good, UNTIL yesterday
-Yesterday the battery was low, no charger in the truck, so I plug in to the USB to charge...works fine for a charger, but 2 issues for me, one was real bad!
1. Soon as I plug in, Sync starts playing back my voice mails over the speakers - Bad cause a girl friend in truck, heard part of another girls VM... made for a short date and she still hasn't called me back..oh well
2. with no date and time to kill last night, I plugged in phone again and sync plays the VM's again, and this time, came up with a not compatible message on the nav screen?? It would not play music, just the dang voice mails with no way to stop them until I pulled the plug!

Is this normal with cell phone on usb? or is this a sprint thing
I learned my lesson not to plug in to USB any more

If I plug the S4 (AT&T) into the usb it'll play the ringtones and any music I have saved on the phone... but won't work well for anything else. I just bought a power outlet charger and avoid plugging the phone into the usb. Worked great for the last year or so.

Sucks about the date. MFT has caused a few problems like that for me too. Same situation, but it would be a text message announcement of the person texting me.. top that off with a hot facebook updated image displaying on the dash screen and it was not a fun night..
