Default Switched Radio...Lost Some Bass. What gives?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here could help me figure this out. Yesterday, I swapped the stock radio from my '04 (single disc, non MP3) to a stock radio from an '05 (6-disc, MP3). After that, I turned the bass up all the way like I normally do except now there is maybe only half as much as before.

Any explanations for this? If I don't figure something out, I may just use this as a reason to get a sub or two, but I'd really rather find out what the reason is.

Thanks for any help!

Depending on how everything was wired previously you might want to check the polarity on your speakers. A sudden unexplained drop in the low end after a new installation often points to speakers out of phase.

I did replace the factory speakers with aftermarket ones from crutchfield, but it included an adapter to plug right in to the factory wires. I'll double check on it though and see if that helps out anything.

I have seen where the polarity on the speaker adapters are opposite of what they should be.

It only goes in one way. So far, no solution.

Only thing I can think of at this point is maybe the head unit was meant for a truck with the stock audiophile system? I'm not sure how that would play in to things, but that's all I have at this point.

Play your system and unplug one of the speakers... if your bass gets louder then they are out of phase. Hook the speaker back up with the polarity reversed (swap positive and negative) --> bass should be louder.

Swap the leads on the speakers not where the adapters plug in

I fixed it!...on accident, haha. So I was uninstalling an HID kit yesterday and when taking the power off the battery, it always resets all the electronics. Well apparently that fixed the *lack of bass* issue.

Thanks for everyone's comments/suggestions!
