Default Subwoofer fitment in crew cab

Hey guys I just bought a 2006 F150 and I am in the process of updating the sound system in the truck. I just recently installed a double din pioneer head unit and now I'm looking to install a sub under the rear seat. My question is which subs will fit under the seat of my truck. As you guys know I am definitely working with limited space. I am going to build my own enclosure. I know pioneer makes a shallow mount subwoofer, but I don't want to break the bank either. I am happy with either an 8" or 10" sub

What type of sound are you looking for?? Heavy loud bass or just something that compliments the door speakers?? I have the plug and play ford oem sub.. It's not a wimp at all.. I listen to rap and I get pretty good responses out of it plus with the pioneer you can adjust the frequency..

Eventually i'm upgrading to subs that will give me a headache... Looking at mb quart and JL Audio with 1 12inch.. Would love a solobaric but installers haven't figured out how to make it fit on one side of the seat..

I have a very eclectic taste in music, so my genre varies, but I like a decent amount of bass. Not enough to rattle my rear view mirror, but I like to feel the beat in my chest some times.

My buddy has a 2004 crew cab and I am putting an older Kenwood amp he has had for a while on a single slim Boss 10. And I am sure people are gonna comment on the Boss brand. I have installed at a very big shop for about 6 years, but the specs and reviews on the woofer kinda surprised me so we are gonna try it. Its about $35 shipped at various locations online. If it doesnt work out we are going to go with a Pioneer or Kenwood slim. I will install it on Tues and let you know what I think.

Thanks for the feedback man, if you get the chance could you take a pic, so I can kind of see what I'm getting into? Are you building the enclosure yourself?

Default Obcon box

I have an OBCON box with a 10" shallow infinity sub powered by an alpine pdx-5 300w (329w actual) rms mono and 4x75w (110W actual ). 6.5" alpine component systems in front and 6.5" alpine coax in back. Also I have a Kenwood single din head unit. The crossovers I mounted in the door handles under the switches.

Scott... I got that shallow sub installed yesterday. I guess I need to post some pics for ya too. Its a Boss shallow sub, dont remember the exact model...$35 on amazon. Like I said before, I installed for about 5 years or so at a shop that did over $2 million a year (car audio only). Thats alot of audio and I have seen alot of systems. I dont claim to know it all by any means. I am just trying to give ya a basis for my experience and opinion.
Honestly, for $35 it cant be beat IMO. He already had an amp since he had in high school... about 15 years old. And he and I were more than pleased with the results. The box is sealed, at a little over .5 cubic feet. Boss recommended .5 ft. If you are looking for a simple and inexpensive sub... go for it.

Heres a comparison to the JL W3V3 going in my 98 F150.

Heres the box before the added leg on the end and carpet. The box is birch plywood.

In the truck... amp is behind the seat.
