I am starting a fiberglassed door panel project in the next few weeks with kicker component speakers. I do not have factory tweeters and my questions are how would I wire them and would I need to put them on an amp along with the components because they are not wired to an amplifier.

Your new components have a crossover. Use it.

If you're running coax speakers there is no reason to add tweeters unless you just hate your ears. There is no need for more than one set of tweeters unless you're running more than 5,000 watts in your sub stage. The whole point of component sets is to bring the sound stage up on the dash in front of you and increased midbass response by not having the woofer blocked by the tweet. And I know everyone starts somewhere but if you're actually glassing your panels to fit more than one speaker in each door I would HIGHLY recommend getting a couple good 6.5 mid bass speakers and one set of tweeters.

I'm really just doing it for looks. This is the plan and without a tweeter there it would just look awkward. I know kicker makes a 3-1/4" coax speaker that I could put up there I guess.

I agree to a point. I would definitely run a good set of components as apposed to a coaxial. But if you insist on using coaxials, then yes you can run a separate tweeter higher in the door. You can run them off the same amp I would just suggest that you get a good set that come with a nice crossover that lets you reduce the volume buy -3db. Believe it or not, it will actually make the sound stage seem a little higher.

So your making fiberglass door panels and using the cheapest speakers you can find? What's the point?

ballin' on a budget. But seriously, they aren't what I could "find". They're what I already have and I'm just redoing the look. I think I've got it figured out.. Thanks for the input everyone

If you insist on putting tweeters in I would suggest a matched set of components instead of what you are planning on doing

X1,000,000. You can get a nice component set for around $150
