Is it possible to install a sub under the small section in the back because I use the large section floor space a lot.

Also if it is possible can I run the sub off of the rear speaker wire.

And if THAT is possible what would I need; box, sub, wires and amp?

Kind of slow on this, but I want a little knock in the back and I was hoping to do it myself. Save some bucks and have some pride in being an idiot and doing some thing cool.
I Just got my stereo Installed last Month, and Im using a 12" MTX form fitting fiberglass sub box. and have it under the rear Jump seat, leaving me 3/4's of the rear floor for usage. It also is color matched to my Leather Seats, Blends right in don't really notice it.

Sub in screw on back passenger side-560885_10151052764522852_2046697070_n.jpg

here is what I put in:
Stock deck
Stock tweeter's
Alpine 5 channel V70 amp
4- Infifnty 8602cfx 6x8"
12" MTX sub & form fitted sub box
dynamatted all 4 doors & door panels
2 Inline converters high out-put adjustable - one for sub and one for 4 speakers
RCA wires 17'ft long
wireing kit w/ 8gauge/ 16g/ 18g/
Inline fuse box....Optional..
Alpine Bass **** - to control the sub, so i don't have to go into the deck all the time to adjust it.

Mounted the Amp on the back wall behind the rear jump seat & the converters....other then the sub box which blends in to the seat, you can't tell i added to my system and it really pounds!
Everything is matched up its loud and clear all the ohms match......has clean Power and a clean sound good solid Bass and lots of high's & I kept the stock tweeter's.....

There is alot of good Threads in here how to do it, I had it installed and it took 7 hrs.....I would recomend doing the dynamat as well, helps with door Bass gives it more Bass, and and I have no rattles or squeeks 0, the doors have a nice deep thud to them now

Hope this helps

Grant

Do you think the 8 will suffice or is it really just weak?
Yes, I found it lack in bottom end. It sounds more like a mid-woofer than sub. I am not against 8", but the sound ordnance didnt seem to fill in the bottom end. A quality 8" in a custom enclosure with a decent amp would be enough, but I had a spare 10" laying around, so I used it.

As a matter of fact, I have a great elemental design 10" available that sounds incredible and takes up very little space...the box is 14.5" long, 11.5" wide, 5" tall tapering to 3.5"

With an amp, it would be perfect for your requirements, but need an amp.

The LC2i is a great option if you only want to add a sub.
Does the lc2i add anything if only adding a powered sub with speaker level inputs? I am still learning.

the LC2i is supposed to strip the speaker signal of anything the OEM headunit is doing that protects the cheap factory speakers. As it gives a decent amount of voltage off the RCA outputs it supplies, the amp should perform more efficient.

The consensus from reading other post, as you play a factory unit louder it rolls off the bass signal so OEM speakers do not get blown. The LC2i is supposed to compensate for that.

It has two RCA pairs... one set for an amp that will drive a full signal... and one pair that drives a signal for subs. It is cleaning up both, or supposed to be.

I also added 2 Elemental Designs 10" shallow mount subwoofers. Did not sound like typical shallow subs, it was sad when they went out of business.
