The JL shallows are way over priced and they do not offer near the performance of other shallows for half the price. The Alpine is a good choice.

Why limit yourself to a shallow sub? Why do you need it?

I want to minimize the footprint. I have no need or want for a huge, dual sub setup. Simple as that.

One regular sub will fit and will be plenty. I had one 10 inch and it was enough. The box for a shallow mount won't be any smaller than one for a regular sub

Yes it worked out great with a minimal foot print as well. King was helping me with a shallow mount sub but it was quite apparent that going shallow meant shallow bass. Regardless of what box you chose it'll end up under your seat, the fox box eats up about half the under seat space. The non shallow subs are also reasonably priced for what you get.

Not really what I was looking for but my wife keeps scratching her ears when I turn it up and looks at me funny. Single type-R 10" + Fox Box.

You're gonna have a heck of a time getting enough depth for that sub. It needs a 16th shy of 6 inches
