Default sub recommendations

I'm slowly piecing together my system. Got my amp, which is 500w at 2ohm and 300 at 4. Id like to run a single 10 (or 12) at 4ohm.
I like this sub:
Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-XW1200F eXcelon 12 inch Shallow Subwoofer: Electronics Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-XW1200F eXcelon 12 inch Shallow Subwoofer: Electronics

But don't want TOO MUCH bass.

Does anyone have this sub? Is it too much? Any other recommendations? Again, I'd like a 10", but 12" isn't out of the question...

Thanks!

PS - this is the amp I got (have had great success with alpine mono amps in the past)

This link is a 12 inch but I have run one single 10 inch Kenwood with an Alpine sub amp and it works out good.

If you want a shallow sub, look around and find yourself a Memphis S-Class (later name MR, they no longer make them though which sucks. their new shallows are garbage). If you don't mind spending the money, get a SI BM MK IV.

http://stereointegrity.com/product/b...-12-subwoofer/ (best shallow on the market)

The Alpine Type R shallow is supposed to be a great shallow as well.

Those will be the three best shallows you can find. Lurk on some true audio forums and you will see why.

I had that exact sub in my 08 and it was just OK. I just put 2 8 in jl N a ported box on my 13 and they hit so hard that you have trouble seeing out the review mirror.
I'll find a link for you I think the retail for 4 something

I like the JLs, but they are kind pricey for me. The Alpine shallow mount is now on my list, thanks M Jon R!

I've got a 10" Kicker CVT in an MTX Thunderform enclosure, works very well and quite happy with it.
