Need more info...

What kind of noise? What terminals? By touching what do you mean?

More info on your setup pre-sub stage. Whats the rest of your install look like?

I'm guessing you're talking about a set of prefabbed terminals that are installed in the side of your sub box, like this:

Do you have the wire's stripped enough for the contacts to get a solid connection? The wire could be loose on the inside of the box, as well. Make sure none of the bare wire is touching between the terminals.

After that is cleared up, you can address the volume issue if it's not corrected. Check the gains on your amp, the sub level on your head unit, and make sure you don't have competing crossovers like grnmachine said.
