Default Sub in front console?

Had an odd idea today. Wondering if anyone had tried to mount a small sub, 8" or maybe 10", inside the lower part of the console in front of the shifter on an 04-08. There's a decent size opening below the ash tray where I had originally planned to mount my amp. I haven't taken any measurements yet, but I think it's possible to put a small sub in that compartment.

Guy building a custom console to mount 2x 8" subs.... looks very stock, which implies that there would be enough room to do what you want.

He was making them for people at one point. You can hit him up to see if he will still do it.

That's a pretty cool console, but not really what I had in mind. I have the shifter in my console, so there's unused space under the radio and in front of the shifter. I want to leave my console in place and maybe put a single sub in that empty space. I'll try to get a pic of it when I get home.

It's been a while since this was created and last posted... which means plenty of time to brew up some awesome ideas... Anything?

After looking at it today when I pulled my ash tray out, there really doesn't appear to be a good space to secure an amp without modifying the vent system that runs to the back of the center console for the back seat. I'm still thinking that, without a pretty major modification of some stuff down there, behind the back seat is still the ideal spot for now.
