yeah your right about that it definatly is an eye soar to look at - couldd try carpeting perhaps and it might cover up some inperfections - built a box for a friend once to fit under seats in his f250 and well lets just say after making two or three boxes we finally got it "looking good" and away from the "painted wood" look with some carpet...

You dont need that much airspace.

The Stage 3 Rockford 12" i'm installing into my truck only needs about 1 cubic foot of volume in a sealed to perform optimally, and about 1.5 for a ported box. The JL12W7-3 in my RSX only needs 1 1/4 cubic ft volume. Easily fit that under the rear seat of an ext cab with a swapped seat bracket.

Also, why reverse mount the sub? Its aesthetic only. If you're not going to be seeing a single bit of the speaker it wont serve any purpose. The only reason people reverse mount is to show off a sub with a pretty basket.

Key word was you "dont" need that much, but if you can have more airspace its always gonna be better, as far as the reverse, it would be beating into the rear seat, kinda like a downfire. In theory it would sound better.

Understandable, but from looking at the periscope in his backseat he's essentially killed the thought of putting anything back there, as well creating a missle for a car crash.

Reversing the sub wouldnt do anything chief, other than to further increase the volume of his box due to the relocation of the basket. He'd also have to retool the box to be sealed. From the pics it looks like he's got a big ported thing going on for him now.
