If you are having trouble with picking the box.. then do this 1/2 sealed & 1/2 ported.. get the best of both worlds

i would say get the sealed box... granted you won't "feel" bass as much, but you will hear it a lot more. ported boxes are really designed for large enclosures (expeditions, suburbans, etc.). any small box that is ported is usually trying to just make an "OK" sub sound a little better. it mainly comes down to whether you want to feel it more and have a bass that's more "noisy"... or do you want just some low rumblin bass (you would also feel it lol)

the port just allows more air flow so that's the "feel" it more i was talkin bout. either way you can rattle your head off lol

exactly, i just went up to 2 10s and a 600w amp in a ported box and when i have it cranked up i hear it rattling outside the car

Bass reflex, or ported bass is more efficient then acoustic suspension (AS). On the other hand AS has more control. Bass Reflex will give you chest thumping bass when fed with enough power it will move seismographs. AS on the other hand will enable you to hear the musician's fingers plucking the strings a bass violin. So it a matter of quantity vis quality.

Lovethetide The way you make a half and half such as you are wondering about is to couple an active bass driver with a passive speaker from the front it looks like you have two identical bass drivers except one is driven and the other has no voice coil or magnet. What the passive driver does is recovers and radiates the acoustic energy that would otherwise be trapped in the speaker case. This is what the port on a bass reflex system does. The beauty of this design is you have the control of a acoustic suspended subwoofer with the efficiency of a ported subwoofer. another plus with this system is you can use smaller "speakers" because acoustically it behaves like a much larger speaker, so a active/passive system using 8 inch cones would sound like a 12 inch single driven speaker. Polk Audio has used this design from their beginnings. My 30 plus year old Polk 10B's, which use a pair of 8 inch bass drivers and a 12 inch passive radiator can absolutely make the walls move in my house when I crank them up.

I would go with a down firing enclosure. you get a really good overall response in side the cab and if you are into SqL type set ups I can honestly say it will be enjoyable. There is actually a nice center console design for the newer F150 that fits well with the enire......Ill see if I can locate a link to it.

I have emailed the builder a few times on pricing .... He also does them for chevy trucks.

Now that is a sweet setup for a subwoofer. I could build such a setup
in the center consol of my truck.

I agree I was quoted $300 shipped for one and that included all the vinyl work and labor....Not bad if you ask my and it would be fully Custom. I do not live in a bad area, but this would be a great way to avoid thieves.
