Default Sub and amp

Looking for opinions on subs and amp for my 16 f150 supercrew. I bought a kicker hideaway amp and haven't had a chance to have my friend install it. I've been thinking will that be enough kick? I have another car that has the Sony sub and it's good enough for me. My friend tells me to get a custom box with 2-10" kicker and amp under the seat. Thanks for reading.

depends on whether or not you want to give up the space under the seat. That is certainly the way to get the most bass. Only you can decide what enough is.

You don't have to go Kicker unless that's your thing. I have had Kicker 10s that hit pretty hard. They used to need a lot of airspace (ft³) but still, personally, they aren't my brand.
Anyway, to me, a decent box with (2) 10s" properly set up, is going to bump quite nicely.
The setup I had in my 2012 XLT S-Crew was nothing that would win SPL competitions, but sounded good & rattled my eyeballs:

(2) NVX DVC 10" subs: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...NSW104-v2.html
Dual 10" sub box: http://www.supercrewsound.com/09f150screwdual.html
1000w RMS 1Ω Stable monoblock amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...X-2000.1D.html

Now that I have a 2016 XL SuperCab, I am going to splurge and do a single Sundown SD-3 12" (Dual 2Ω wired to 1Ω at 1000W RMS)...Yeah

There are quite a few ways to go. It appears that gear is pretty easy to find in the '16 SCrew, so it's all a matter of preference and how much you want to spend.

If you are happy with the Sony in the other car then you don't need much. The Kicker hideaway would be just right. Even better than the Sony

I have the Sony system and added the Kicker Hideaway behind the passenger rear seat. For me I think it's great.

Just curious, what is "the Sony sub" you mentioned?

It's the sub that came with the Sony system. It's located under the right rear seat.

I was thinking the same until I realized OP said I have another "car" with Sony sub. The "car" part made me wonder what we're dealing with here:

Must have a factory Sony system in his car?

I tested out a Lariat with Sony before I purchased my XLT. Dropped a Kicker Hideaway in the XLT. It's definitely better than the stock Sony sub. To my ear at least. I'm old so I didn't need a ton of bass output.
