Default Stubby Antenna

Has anyone replaced their stock antenna with an aftermarket stubby?

Watching my antenna hit everything in an underground parking garage drives me nuts, and I saw a post where someone's antenna somehow got ripped off in a car wash causing substantial damage.

The parts counter at my dealer has stubby antenna kits, I was wondering how bad the radio reception would be with one

Yes, plenty of people. Lost reception in fringe areas.

I installed a Cravin Speed Stubby, on my 12 xlt when it was new. Sold it a week later, as the Reception sucked!

Since then I use the oem antenna, and trim them 3"s, to avoid it annoyingly scrapping my garage door opening. Works fine, without reception loss. I glued the ball back on with expoxy.

I put a 13" antenna-x rubber whip style on mine https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , haven't lost any local radio station reception and only a little of radio stations 80 miles away. If your in a rural area I imagine reception would be impacted even more. Car wash slaps it around and it always pops right back into shape.

I have this 13" eBay cheapo flex antenna and it is ok (25 miles N of Dallas) where I am, but I am sure reception suffers the farther I get from cities. I use Android Auto about 98% so I rarely ever use it:

It looks decent enough and I can go through the car wash without removing it.
