I've had Kappas and they are great, but I think you might want to throw Kenwood eXcelons into the mix too. They are cheaper, but sound very good.

I just had four of those Pioneer's installed on Friday (11/1). They sound great to me! I ordered from Amazon and saved quite a bit off of Crutchfield's price. Looks like they've dropped even more in the week-and-a-half since I got mine. You can now get two pairs off of Amazon for the cost of one pair from Crutchfield.

Got my Kappas for $69.99 shipped, price just went up $10.
You will have little if any bass with them, but they make up for it in the clarity department. They are also good for running off the OEM headunit, but should be amped to get their true brillance. They are bright, clear and loud off my OEM, but I am in the process of getting a sub and amp in the next few days(JL CP108lg-W3V3 powered by MTX thudner500.1 & Pac Add-On Amplifier Interface ).

Yep, Supply and demand is a cruel lady!! I read an article of prices on amazon. Apparently it is best to buy from 12:00am to 10am times. Vendors jockey for position on the search engine by getting their prices the lowest when nobody is likely to buy. As soon as somebody buys, they usuall jack their prices up on the rest of the items.
