Speaker Recommendations?

I put Polk Audio in my doors and am very satisfied, DB571 to be exact and they are marine rated so water that WILL get inside the door panel will not cause any problems.
Decent price as well.
You will want to also get the Metra harness adapters so no splicing of factory wiring, plug-n-play and sound great.

You do not have to install an amp for better sound. Yes it is better but an amp is not required. Since the factory HU is low wattage, look for speakers with a high efficiency rating. 90db or higher. Polk and Infinity are good. It depends on your budget. I used my factory HU and Polk speakers for over a year. I did add a subwoofer for better low end later. Since then I installed a aftermarket HU but still do not have an amp. Look at Crutchfield.com to see what fits and for reviews.
Bottom line I just would like a better sounding system without ripping apart a bunch of factory wiring to install an amp. I watched a video on how to install a new amp in a F150 and it gave me nightmares looking at all those wires!! Cutting and splicing I can do but geezzzzzz.. that looks like a lot of work.. to many damn wires for my liking! Then there is the problem of where to place the amp. I want everything to work in my truck for functionality. Perhaps I'm asking to much for this type of mod? If I'm going to install a new amp I want Crutchfield to supply DETAILED instructions.. not generic stuff! i'm not an electrical engineer and do not want to screw something up! I can follow detailed instructions very well but it seems like they sell you an amp without exact how to wire it into something like the sony factory system??????
Perhaps I'll just do the speaker thing and see how it sounds……..

Here are a few options for a 2013... Crutchfield takes all the guess work out of it... They match speakers to your vehicle options....

In another thread it says the sony HU is rated at 700 wats? Is that considered a low wattage amp? It's confusing to me what's considered high power? 1000+? Seems like you should be able to use existing wires and wire in an amp if that's the fix? I tend to agree based on nothing that good speakers would make a big difference such as you've done! I do not think the current factory sub is all that bad but then I'm not an audiophile as such… lol..

Do you have the Sony system with the subwoofer? If so I am guessing the 700W is the rating or the subwoofer amp. Plus there are different power ratings. Many times wattage is rated as Peak to inflate the ratings. RMS is the rating you should look at. The HU wattage to the door speakers is much lower. It all comes down to personal needs and budget. How much time and money do you want to sink into the system? Since you say you are not an audiophile, start with replacing just the door speakers. I too installed Polk db571 and they made a big difference.
I'm going to try and you suggest which is simply replacing the door speakers. Should I replace all 4 of them? I would think that's the least expensive and easiest install. I honestly do not want to be cutting, splicing and running new wires…. Yes the cost is a factor but I just don't want to cut into factory wiring while under warranty. Something goes wrong I can hear the dealer saying well the problem is obviously the AFTER MARKET amp… lol
Thanks for the input as it's greatly appreciated……

Yes my system has the sub. Looking at after market it looks like most mfgs play the same game using PEAK to quote numbers.

Yes to all 4. You can get an adapter harness to go from factory connector to the speakers so it is all PNP install. Crutchfield is more expensive but their site shows what fits and you get install instructions and the adpater harness with the order. Plus excellent tech support.
