that sounds awesome. I just wanted to get something to replace my blown front speakers, and I was going to get them on-line, but I walked into best buy, and they were having a end of the year clearance sale, and all of their 6x8's were crazy cheep, so I figured some cheep infinities would be better than grenaded factory fords.

I would love to get some better door speakers in my truck, but I admittedly know jack **** about speakers. I guess I will have to start reading up.

I would appreciate it if you let me know how those speakers work out for ya, I wouldn't mind getting some nice speakers for my front doors, and moving the other ones to the back.

well i got my speakers... infiity kappa's. I like them but i made a very big mistake in getting the head unit that i did... i bought a blaupunkt hamburg head unit.... the bluetooth part works good sounds great.... but i get noise thru the head unit, i get noise when the cd turns, it gets worse when u put a mp3 disc in... it takes a real long time for it to find disc... so i am taking it back and getting a jvc double din... i like the premier and it has good specs but i like the jvc because it does have 3 rca outs and the colors on the face can be changed...hence make it match as much as i can with gauges in there now. also the hamburg has a cheesy remote...so small you can hardly hold it in your hand and then it seems you have to press really hard to get the buttons to work... but the speakers so far do sound good... I am running a 125 x 4 amp on them and they dont distort

I was reading through the online reviews on Blaupunkt Hamburg. There are issues with it's Bluetooth setup, they also report problems with Mp3 playback on it, this is also a reported issue with some of the other Blaupunkt head units. the CD player is Temperature sensitive more so then you would expect for something intended to operate in the environment of a truck cab. They don't mention a reason for the picky MP3 playback but I would imagine it has to do with the title length. Some CD players will only handle MP3 discs if they are burnt with a 8 letter title, where as most modern players will handle the standard 64 letter title. I friend of mine has the Pioneer Model listed below. He specifically tells me how impressed he is with the unit's Bluetooth capabilities I would have purchased this unit myself except it does not have a built in USB port, and I don't have a use for the Bluetooth functionality at this time but with my Pioneer P6000UB I can add it on.

The first set that I would recommend would be the new Boston Acoustics. I had the older set in my Malibu and they were crystal clear!!! Pioneer, Alpine, and JL are all great also!!! If you're going to go with Infinity speakers I would go with the Kappa Perfect series. They sound great for the money!!

JL>Boston Acoustics. I have upgraded a few customers cars from Boston to JL and the difference in the vehicle is amazing. The JL speakers have a more natural sound and much better midbass than others I have installed. We just did a set up TR570's in the front and rear of a 05 SuperCrew with a JL a4300 off of the factory deck and it was quite impressive for an entry setup. Of course entry level from JL is priced around midrange from other manufacturers.

Now that I have my Pioneer head unit installed I am going to start looking at speakers, I have owned Polk Audio speakers for 30 odd year and have been pleased with them. But I will examine all of the other choices out there. What I have always found interesting is how few people recommend speakers with a Japanese brand name, there is nothing wrong with their quality they just some how do not have the sound of American and European speakers.

well the hamburg is going back tomorrow at nine.... the guy ask me what i didnt like about it and i said everything accept the bluetooth... with my phone and its bluetooth everything worked pretty good..sounded great... but the noise from the deck when playing a cd was awfull... i have always had a good faithful pioneer but i am gonna try and eclipse this time around.. eclipse has 3 sets of 5 volt rca out plugs and more voltage - better signal...so we shall see.

You can normally get away saving some money on a head unit, but speakers are definitely not the place to scrimp. I just purchased a Dual headunit, but I'm backing it up with Kicker RS 6.5" components up front and the new Kicker CompVT 6.5" Shallow subs in the back doors. I'm going to be pushing the speakers with an 800W Kenwood amp I already had.

I switched to the 6.5" in leau of the standard 6x8". You can typically get better sound quality from a round speaker vice an oval. I've played with almost every brand to date, but I got some of the best results from the Polk dB series.
