So the big issue is the output of head unit? Would adding just an Amp help with sound, or would it only help once better speakers are installed?

The problem is the factor heAd unit will under power aftermarket speakers. The factor speakers are rated at 30-35 wars max. So if your just adding speakers you will want a small 4 channel amp to help power them. To little power is as bad for speakers as to much. You could run a set of infinity kappa 6x8s all around with the crossover they have you can still use you factor wires and it will sound good, better with a small 4 channel amp though. And small amp is probability about 400-600 watts. Just enough for a power boost. This should be around $600 with install or around that.

Ok yeah that's what I thought. New stuff is useless without some boosted power, but just boosted power alone could fry the old stuff. Makes sense. And all the stuff should fit behind the OEM "screens", minus the amp of course?

I think I'll be sitting at about $800-900 cause I want to do the 4 door speakers, the tweeters, and a small amp, but no new sub. I'd like to keep my sub box OEM.

I will, I just didn't even know what I wanted. Wanted to get an un-biased opinion on what people on here think I would actually need. I love this place, and I love my F150 brothers and sisters. Always helpful
