Sony Amp Bypass - Input Side Wire Codes - 2011, Sony, Sync w/o Nav

Yes, but sometimes the automakers use 5V turn ons instead of 12V. Just make sure it's got enough juice to turn on the amp before you close it up. Otherwise you may need to use a relay to get enough to turn the amp on.

Gator - you are correct. Ford in particular uses 5V remote turn-on leads. I called Alpine and Alpine products require a 12v remote turn-on (tech guy suggested my ignition), and a 12v constant battery source.
On this install - do you have recommendation on the factor wire colors to tap? I suppose worse case I can run my own (new) wires to the fuse box, but I'd rather just use what I have at the Sony Amp location.

85 - 5V Turn On from truck
86 - Ground
87 - Alpine Turn On to Amp
30 - 12+ from harness

You can pull the ignition 12v from the radio, but that's further away.
Remember, wherever you pull from needs to be an accessory delayed circuit so that your amp stays on after the key is out and before you open the door like your head unit does.

There is a Violet / Red wire that to according the diagram is a Constant 12v (30amp) source. However, it's a smaller gauge than even the speaker wires. Do you think I can trust this? Also there is a Black / Yellow wire that is the Ground. But again, the power source is a smaller gauge than even the ground wire. Any thoughts?

The turn on itself uses very little current, the 30 amp feed is as much as you'll probably find around there anyway. Are you going to pull an additional circuit to the location to power the power pack, if so you could use that as well.

Better yet, I spoke to Alpine and they confirmed a (new) feature of the Power Pack is that IF you are using speaker level inputs THEN the unit auto-senses turn-on. So it doesn't look like a remote wire is needed. (unless the voltage is so low that it won't trigger). I can confirm once I complete the installation. The relay will be my plan B. Thanks very much for all the help!
