Find the dimensions this is the best way. And then find a couple of subs that fit your price range but pay attention to what air space they need for a sealed box. And as for the amp find an amp that will run the correct power to your subs. A mono block should be what you want and check for the correct RMS watts and Max watts. A great sub i keep telling people to look at is the Boss Audio Diablo series. Its affordable and a great well built sub and if you get it from a liscenced dealer i think it comes with a 4 year limited warrenty. (not to sure though). Go to onlinecarstereo.com and check them out.

Ignore the "max" watts. Doesn't mean a thing since 1) there is no standard for it and 2) you'll never see it.

You could see it but that usually is when you start clipping. you are right RMS is more important to look at.

With amps that list "max" power it's usually more like when lightning strikes the power supply. Fully clipped the theoretical maximum that an amp can produce is double the RMS. The Sony X-Plods list a max power that is nearly 4x the RMS. Pyramid and Pyle and all the others of that kind do the same thing.

RMS is the only number to look at.

Yes but depending on the amp the theoretical max starts to become more and more a reality. Some companies yes complely blow this number out of proportion.

Is the box a sealed or ported box? (ported does it have a hole or holes in it, perhaps a picture)

Is there a divider in it between speaker opennings? (If there isn't you should add one)

You should go to your local auto sound store and have a listen to some different subs to get and idea of what you like.

What kind of music are you going to listen to, rock, jazz, country all favor the tight base response a sealed box will produce, where hiphop and rap will work better with a ported box.

Let us know and it will help us help you.

It's sealed but I listen to a lot of Hip-hop/rap so I think It might be wiser to sell this and get ported? I got it because I was only 75 dollars and didnt want to pass on a deal, what do you think?
There is a divider between sub openings, and here's some pics:
