I am sure.

I would use fronts so that sub volume matches fronts... you could use backs if you wanted. Would just mean if you fade to back speakers you get more sub. It is pretty much the same thing either way.

The reason I asked about the fronts also is that I heard if you use the front speakers it messes with the SYNC Audio. I read it in one of the threads going around these forums. Just want to make sure everything remains the same except the fact that I added a harness and LOC to the Factory HU. Do you think that blue wire on the back of the PAC LOC looking thing (the remote I am assuming) would work as it is suppose to? Thanks.

if that is what it is supposed to be, then I imagine it would do what it is supposed to. The instructions that come with the harness should explain it thoroughly.

Well I should know in two days. I went ahead and ordered the PAC AOEM-FRD24 with two day delivery. I am excited once again to be hopefully getting this done this weekend, so I can put this installation to rest. The only scary thing about the install part is that when you disconnect the ground on the battery....... the green light on the battery goes out after awhile then when I plugged everything back in and connected the ground I almost blew my own personal fuse because the SYNC didn't work right away. After a few minutes though SYNC came back on and everything was at Factory settings again I guess. For some reason even though I didn't connect one piece of aftermarket equipment...... the HU sounded a little better. I had to play with the RDS to get the Station Text back on the Display, but the system sounded a little better then I remember. Maybe I messed the settings up by playing with the Bass and all on the HU. I don't know, but I am ready for the install to be complete. So is my wife for sure.......... she is getting a little yancy that I am spending so much time on this forum and afraid I am going to mess something up with the Factory Settings in the truck. Now I get this advice from another poster........

Looks like I could've used the BT-5520 after all, though I didn't like the way that it fit on the back of the HU. Didn't seem like a good fit. Seems like I am hearing more and more about the PAC AOEM-FRD24. Sounds easier also.

Hi, I got your PM, but it seems you have it figured out.
Yes the PAC adapter is plug and play; Male plug to radio, female to OEM male harness plug; you get 4 RCA plugs for the amps(s) and the blue wire is the remote, very simple install.

Yes I think it is all figured out now. I just didn't want to get another harness that didn't seem to work. This one seems pretty easy though. Thanks.

Question To Sum It Up.......

So forum readers, threaders, and know-it-alls......... I have finally one last question to ask everyone or anyone that will be kind enough to elaborate for me.

I have all my wires ran to where they will be located and will instal the PAC AOEM-FRD24 Harness tomorrow night sometime to the HU. I was hoping someone would explain to me on step by step procedure to hook all these wires to my system.
1.I will have disconnected the Ground Cable from the Stock Battery to begin with......... Now I will need to know when to plug the 6 Gauge Power wire to the Stock Battery Terminal then also the amp. When should I hook the Amp ground cable, before or after the 6 Gauge Power wire is hooked to the Stock Battery? Should I put the In-Line Fuse near the Stock Battery in after connecting the 6 Gauge Power wire to the terminal or before connecting to the terminal? Should I have two sets of RCA's to hook to Amp from PAC LOC or should I just use the front speakers RCA so the Subs will work in conjunction with the front speaker settings? Will the PAC LOC to Amp by RCA boost the front door speakers also since I will be connecting the RCA's to those then the Amp?

As you can see I have jumbled my thoughts of the install and it seems the more I read on hooking the wiring up and all it gets me a little confused again. I just don't want to blow anything and would appreciate a step by step guide or instruction on how I should go about connecting all these wires to my system. Thanks in advance for any help!

1) Power cable: crimp a connector to the power cable to hook it to the positive terminal of your battery. You want the in-line fuse to be as close to the battery as comfortably possible. CONNECTING TO POWER SHOULD BE THE LAST THING YOU DO. This is because you don't want to be working with cables that are live. Getting shocked sucks. Disconnecting the negative terminal does not prevent power coming from the battery, it just prevents the truck metal from being a ground in the loop. YOU are also a very good ground, which is why we don't work on hot wires.

2) RCA Cables: As I have previously PM'd you and discussed above, you only need one pair (Red/White) to run your amp. You CAN use 'Y' cables to join them if you want, but it does not provide you any significant advantage. Just tape off one set with electrical tape so they don't ground out on anything.

3) Front door boost: You will NOT get a boost to your front door speakers from the amp as you are not routing any signal to them. Line goes out to amp, amp goes out to sub. The connections serve a one-way direction in this case.

4) Up to you: Yes, it is up to you. All we can do is provide advice. While this forum is very active and you have gotten answers quickly, expecting answers in less than an hour (10:17am - 11:06am) is an unreasonable expectation. Be patient. Remember, we aren't as excited and eager as you are to get your install done because we don't get to listen to it

Above all, good luck.

Thanks Hobbes. Yeah, I guess I was getting a little anxious and expecting quick answers. Good explanation about the amp powering the front doors also. Seemed like the more sure I was about the hook up, the more questions came to me. I should be getting the harness tomorrow, then I will install and take pics (maybe video) for other posters or people that may need some help. Thanks again!
