Question so you say 6.5 components will fit...

happen to have any pics? i have a set with brackets. i cut the bracket for the component to fit. but, when i try to install it into the door it hits the door?
the speaker seems to big to fit without trimming the door plastic surrounding the speaker "pocket".
so are you guys trimming the actual door plastic also? or just the brackets?

Is the woofer frame on yours larger than the adapter? Will the plastic on the door panel not flex enough for you to push it down into the opening?

I thought that the 4 bolts holding the speaker also were part of the door.
It holds the interior door on.

Also is there a problem with the wood rotting?

I just put 6.5 JL's up front and had to cut out the bottom to make it fit
and with the adapter bracket there is still gaps around it.
Not all 6.5" are the same size.

Please

Only if your door was to leak badly. You can put a coat of fiberglass over the MDF if your are concerned.

When you cut out the space for the MFD are you compromising the door
by not having the 4 bolts that are part of what holds the inside to the door?

Naw, IIRC their are like ten slide in "arms" that hold the door panel to the inner skin of the door itself, plus a few other screws in other areas.
