Has anyone installed the Advent in a 2012 with Sony stereo but no navi? I'm looking at upgrading the navi and want to use the Advent but I've read some reviews online that certain parts of Sync and/or speakers have issues. Anyone have any of this?

What is it you are looking to gain by replacing the head unit? It is possible I've done it for customers with a busted nav but it is a huge very expensive pain in the *** for something that will gain you absolutely no sound quality improvement. You can easily put together a system that will sound just as good as the best aftermarket head unit by using the right processor to add amps and speakers to your factory head unit. I've been an installer for 22 years now and it used to be that when installing a new system the first thing we would advise is replace the head unit, now that most cars come with all of the same features you get in an aftermarket unit it isn't nearly as common to replace it. But the short answer is yes it is possible just not advisable or cost effective.
